
Gloria Kay Rodriguez, 80, of Galesburg, died peacefully at home, Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 6:39 a.m.
Gloria was born June 11, 1940, in Galva, the daughter of Max and Eleanor (Hainline) Carlson. She graduated from GHS in 1959. Gloria married Richard Frakes. He preceded her in death. Gloria later married Victor Rodriguez on November 16, 2015, in Rock Island. He survives. Gloria is also survived by two daughters, Sandra Frakes of Roseville and Julie (Chad) Mustread of Roseville; two step-daughters, Rosaria Rodriguez of Arkansas and Tanya (Aaron) Skinner of Knoxville; and three step-sons, Alan (Anna) Frakes of Avon, Dennis (Mindy) Frakes of Colorado, and Victor (Tawnya Korschgen) Rodriguez of Springfield, MO. Gloria is also survived by her beloved 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Barnfield of Texas and Trudy Crosley of Galesburg. Along with her first husband and parents, Gloria was preceded in death by a step-son, Danny Frakes; a sister, Diana Halsey; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Gloria worked at Maytag from September 22, 1966, until she retired with 30 years of service on September 30, 1996. Gloria spent several years showing horses as well as horseback and trail riding. She also enjoyed racing greyhounds in field trials. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, loved to go dancing, and spending time at Lake Storey.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2021, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in Gloria’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
