Just before 4:30 pm on Tuesday, March 2nd, a call came into the Galesburg Police of a possible domestic disturbance taking place. The call came from the York Regional Police in Ontario, Canada, according to police reports. A resident in Ontario was playing Xbox Live with a resident of Galesburg and requested a well-being check after hearing a domestic disturbance taking place in the background. Due to prior police contacts, GPD knew the individual who owned the Xbox Live account. Police responded to the 600 block of East 3rd Street and were lead upstairs by the homeowner who stated the suspect and two females were in a bedroom. Police made contact with the two females who stated the male subject: 18-year old Bostyn Newcomer wasn’t present and there wasn’t a domestic incident – they were just yelling at the video game. After informing the females they’d be arrested for obstruction if they were lying, one of the females gestured towards a closet. Officers asked Newcomer to step out, and he was then placed under arrest. Newcomer had a valid Knox County Warrant for Aggravated Fleeing and was transported to the Knox County Jail.
