Illinois State Police have arrested a Sergeant with the Illinois Army National Guard stationed in Galesburg two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault.
32-year-old Timothy Nichols of Dahinda was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Knox County Jail Wednesday, although Nichol posted a $10,000 bond and was released.
Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin approved the charges after reviewing with State Police found in their investigation according to an ISP release.
ISP District 2 was first notified back on January 8, 2020, of an allegation of Criminal Sexual Abuse against Nichols.
The charges filed indicated that he displayed, threatened to use, or used a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm, in the commission of the crime.
Also that the victim(s) was between the ages of 13 and 17.
Illinois State Police Captain Darryl Bogard says they take these “types of allegations seriously and will continue to thoroughly investigate such allegations and assist in bringing to justice those who attempt to harm those we serve.”
