CHICAGO (AP) – A man who killed someone who was trying to rob him during the widespread mayhem in Chicago over the death of George Floyd won’t face criminal charges. The Chicago Police Department says the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office determined the man acted in self-defense when he struck 31-year-old Laronzo Thomas in the abdomen with a metal bar. The attack occurred on June 2 on Chicago’s West Side. Thomas was declared dead at a hospital on June 5. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the man died from complications of assault.
