Argument at the gas pumps leads to the arrest of a couple on a slew of charges

On Wednesday, April 7th just before 11:00 pm, Galesburg Police were dispatched to Beck’s on East Main Street for two subjects fighting and possibly under the influence. The caller reported that the male subject could be heard stating that if police arrived, he’d shoot everyone. Police arrived on scene, and dispatch informed officers the Cadillac SUV being driven by the couple was reported stolen out of Bureau County. The female subject was identified as 41-year old Erin Vancil of Galesburg; the male subject was 51 year old Paul Carlson of Toulon. Both were taken into custody and a search of the vehicle and their persons turned up a glass pipe with residue that field-tested positive for Meth, and drug paraphernalia. Back at the Public Safety Building, Vancil provided a breath sample with a BAC of .114. Vancil was charged with DUI Alcohol, DUI Violation no Insurance, DUI with a BAC over .08, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Meth, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Carlson was charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and A valid Henry County Warrant for Motor Fuel Theft.
