Tuesday, April 6th, Galesburg Police were dispatched to St. Mary’s Medical Center for reports of a female ER patient who had been discharged acting strange, getting into patients’ vehicles, and maybe under the influence of methamphetamine. Security officers told police that 30-year old Rebecca Anders of Geneseo was treated in the ER for an unrelated condition, discharged, fell asleep on a bench outside then attempted to enter other patients’ vehicles. Anders was acting aggressively towards officers and could not identify herself or where she was. Fearing she was a danger to herself, officers tried to detain Anders – who threw herself to the ground, then refused to get up after being placed in handcuffs. In Anders’ purse was a checkbook linked to an invalid account belonging to a resident of Farmington – confirmed through the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department. The checkbook was presumably stolen from a storage unit. In addition to Public Intoxication, Anders was charged with Resisting a Peace Officer and Possession of Stolen Property.
