Galesburg Police Officer Joshua Carpenter has been named the 2021 Officer of the Year by Galesburg Area Crime Stoppers.
Carpenter has only been with GPD for just over 2 years but was nominated by three different colleagues.
Officer Carpenter works 3rd shift and last year made several felony drug arrests, cash seizures, and confiscated several firearms from felons.
Carpenter was also given kudos from other City Employees for the way he handled a despondent subject.
Police Chief Russ Idle and Vice President of Galesburg Area Crime Stoppers Mark Cratty presented Carpenter with the award.
Crime Stoppers says, “Officer Carpenter’s proactive policing has made the community of Galesburg a safer place to live.”
