Knoxville Love’s Travel Stop converts to solar energy

A trio of Love’s Travel Stops throughout the state of been converted over to solar energy panels, including the location in Knoxville.

Alternative fuel systems and renewable energy provider Trillium announced the conversion and says they were responsible for designing and building the systems in Hamel, Kankakee, and Knoxville.

The solar panel systems are interconnected with each location they’re built and help offset the electrical load consumed from the store.

Trillium, a Love’s subsidiary, says that excess power produced at these locations will be exported to city power grids via a net metering program offered by local utilities.

The energy provider says they have plans to build more solar-powered locations, as well as electric, hydrogen, compressed natural gas, and other alternative and renewable fuel systems.
