The summer is here and a pair of music events that run throughout the summer will resume for you to consider with your weekend.

The Levitt AMP Galva Music Series is resuming this year after canceling last year because of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Kicking off on Sunday at Galva’s Wiley Park is Midwestern folk band: Good Morning Bedlam and surf rock band: the Surf Zombies.

Attendees of all ages are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets as they enjoy an entertaining evening of live music. Food vendors will be on-site or guests can bring a picnic dinner. Levitt AMP concerts at Wiley Park are provided free of charge.

The music series is supported by many community sponsors, donors, and volunteers, and several arts non-profits, including the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation.

Backstage Jazz returns to Prairie Players Civic Theatre on Friday. Patrons can enjoy the Derel Monteith Trio from 7-9:30 pm.

Monteith is a pianist, keyboardist, and composer whose trio focuses on original compositions with fully improvised solos blends the music of Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, and McCoy Tyner.

His music fuses influences from a wide range of genres, including jazz, blues, Americana, rock, R&B, classical, and gospel music.

The summer concert series is sponsored by First Midwest Bank and will see live jazz performed on the final Friday of each month between May and August.

Tickets are $10 per concert. Or, tickets can be purchased for all four at the same time for a savings of $10.
