
Connie Lee Rawlings, 69 of rural Abingdon, passed away peacefully at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at her home.
She was born April 27, 1952, in Galesburg, the daughter of James “Mart” and Dorothy M. (McElroy) Boone. She married Robert “Butch” Rawlings on August 5, 1972, at the Abingdon Christian Church.
Connie is survived by her husband, Butch; two sons, James “Pat” (and Jenny) Rawlings of Wallace, Nebraska, and Kip (and Nicole) Rawlings of Galesburg; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, Robert and Kate Rawlings.
Connie lived in the Abingdon area all her life. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1970 and later studied computers at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg for two years. She worked in the office at the former Brass Factory in Abingdon and in the office at Consumer Grain. She later became a bus aide for the Abingdon School District #217 for 20 years, retiring in April of 2015. She was a member of the Junior Woman’s Club, the Indian Dance Team, and was a former member and leader of 4-H. She also was a Boy Scouts of America leader. Her biggest hobby was studying genealogy. She also enjoyed deer hunting, taking care of her flower gardens, and enjoying the company of her dogs.
Cremation will be accorded. A time to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
