Galesburg Police on Friday, June 18th, around 4:30 in the afternoon, responded to the 300 block of East Main Street – the One-Stop Smokeshop – in reference to an unwanted individual. Employees told police 50-year old Lisa Monckton of Galesburg came inside the store and refused to leave. Monckton is accused of stealing from the store the day before. Already familiar with Monckton, police made contact with her on a bench near the East Main / Seminary Street intersection. Employees handed Monckton a ban notice, and she refused to cooperate with the police. Meanwhile, as officers were making sure a disabled vehicle was getting off the street, Monkton stood up, pulled her pants, down and urinated on the sidewalk. A passerby notified police and their attention was back on Monckton. GPD notified she was under arrest and Monckton became combative – kicking, swinging, and spitting on officers. She was eventually transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Felony Resisting a Peace Officer and Public Indecency / Lewd Exposure.
