Monmouth College will be requiring all students, faculty, staff, and guests to wear a face mask while in public indoor spaces on campus.

College President Clarence Wyatt cites the surge in infections of the Delta Variant of COVID-19 all around the country as the reason behind the decision.

The decision requires all individuals to wear face coverings while inside a campus building’s public space, such as a hallway and classroom, or while attending meetings in offices or conference rooms.

Individuals will not be required to wear face masks in their residence hall rooms or in the dining hall or at Einstein Bagel bros.

Wyatt says that all classes will still be offered in-person and athletics and other co-curricular activities will continue as scheduled.

He adds that the hope is the practice is temporary and that the best way to make it temporary is for more to be vaccinated and to follow the masking policy to suppress the virus’ spread.

Wyatt says the practice will be temporary and urges more in the community to get the vaccine. He adds that a vaccine clinic will be held on campus for students on August 31st.

Additionally, vaccinated students can show proof of their vaccine to be entered into a drawing for a $250 Amazon gift card. One gift card will be awarded to a randomly drawn name from each class.
