
Linda L. Petrie, 78 of rural Galesburg, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria.
She was born June 24, 1943, in DeLong, the daughter of Walter “Buzzy” and Arlene (Cramer) Hatch. She married Richard D. Petrie on August 30, 1963, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1986.
Linda is survived by her life partner, Allen Bivens; her children, Darcie Bramlett, Tracie Dean, and Jamie Petrie all of Galesburg; her grandchildren, Mackenzie Dean, Mason Dean, Brodie Bramlett, and Baylee Bramlett; and her siblings, Larry (Connie) Hatch of Knoxville and Sue (Glade) Mathews of St. Charles, Missouri.
Linda attended DeLong Grade School and graduated from Knoxville High School. She was a member of the former Congregational Church in Abingdon, where she helped make many pot-pie dinners. Linda was a skilled seamstress. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, cleaning homes, and even caning chairs. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the riverboat. She was a big Elvis fan. She will be missed by all.
As she requested, cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Danny Hunt will officiate. There will be no visitation. In accordance with the CDC and IDPH Covid Guidelines, masks will be required for those attending. A private burial of her ashes will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.
