
Galesburg Police around 3:45 in the morning on Sunday, January 30th, stopped a sedan near the intersection of East Main and Prairie Street without a front or back registration. The driver told the police the registration was stolen. Officers had a K9 unit perform a free air narcotics sniff test to which the K9 officer alerted to the presence of narcotics. Neither the driver nor the passengers had contraband on their persons. Officers were able to locate cannabis crumbs and a bottle of alcohol under the front passenger seat. The 18-year old front seat passenger was identified as Laron Britt of Galesburg. Britt spoke to officers in a think tongue and police could detect an alcoholic odor coming off of him. Britt refused to provide a breath sample. He was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Illegal Possession / Consumption of Alcohol by a minor.
