
Bonnie Mae Wainman, 85, of rural Galesburg, IL, passed away at 4:32 am, Sunday, February 6, 2022, at her home.
Bonnie was born April 14, 1936, at home in Vermont, IL, the daughter of Ross and Mary (Woodruff) Richey. She was raised and educated in rural Roseville, attending Roseville High School.
Bonnie married Kermit Wainman on November 9, 1952, at the Coldbrook Christian Church in Cameron, IL and he survives.
Bonnie worked as a head cook for Galesburg School District 205 at Steele Middle School for 30 years before retiring in 1997.
She was a member of the Coldbrook Christian Church, Hendco Hills Golf Club, and the Coldbrook Surrey Club. She also enjoyed collecting chicken ornaments and was an Illini fan.
Survivors include her husband, Kermit Wainman; her children, Jean (Rick Hahn) Main and Jerry L. Wainman all of Galesburg, IL; 5 grandsons, Jeremy Randolph, Travis Randolph, Brandon Wainman, Kris Cokel, and Tony Cokel; 1 granddaughter, Lesli Fox; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Margaret “Butchie” Wainman and son-in-law, Julius Cokel both of Monmouth, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 children, Joie L. Cokel and John T. Wainman; her great-grandson, Calvin Cokel, and her sister, Barb Trego.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, February 11, 2022, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the services with private family interment at Warren County Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be given to Beacon of Hope Hospice or the Bonnie M.
