
No injuries were reported after firefighters battled a structure fire along Second Street this week.
At around 6:39 Thursday evening, the Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire call at 772 East Second St. All three stations responded with 11 firefighters on duty.
Smoke was showing from the story and a half home when fire personnel arrived on the scene and Battalion Chief Donald Brackett established command while the Brooks Street station crew made entry into the home with an attack line and quickly extinguished the fire located in a bedroom closet.
Emergency coverage for the city was provided after a callback was initiated for Galesburg fire personnel.
Heavy fire and smoke damage to the home and contents of the dwelling were reported.
The fire is currently under investigation by GFD investigators.
