Shortly after 4:00pm on Sunday, April 3rd, Galesburg Police responded to the 1200 block of Brown Avenue for a domestic battery in progress. The 38-year old female victim told police she was preparing to have family over to the house after the passing of her father. Her boyfriend, 54-year old Eric McGee of Galesburg was having a loud phone conversation and after being told to quiet down, became irate and started yelling at her. According to police reports, during the argument, McGee picked up a frozen rack of ribs that were thawing in the sink and struck the female upside the head. McGee then departed the residence along with a bag of ribs. The victim had ice and meat still in her hair when officers arrived. Later, McGee agreed to meet with officers where he denied any physical contact taking place. McGee was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Battery.
