A disturbing encounter with a male suspect led an employee of Save-a-Lot to call the police. Shortly after 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 5th, two male suspects entered Save-A-Lot on East Main Street and began walking around the store. A female employee reported that the two males then approached her register and began talking to her. One of the suspects, believed to be intoxicated at the time, began making sexual remarks to the woman. The male would step aside when customers approached to purchase items but would continue to talk to the woman. The male then came around the register and cornered the female saying he had something to tell her. The female initially said “no”, but then leaned in to hear what the suspect had to say. The suspect then grabbed the woman by the hair and pulled her head down, according to police reports. The two men then left the store without purchasing anything. Galesburg Police responded and reviewed security footage of the incident and were able to positively identify the male suspect as a 49-year old Galesburg man whom police have had numerous encounters with. The suspect has been added to the department’s pending arrest list and is facing charges of Aggravated Battery in a Public Place.
