
Dorothy M. Duvall, 93, of Galesburg, died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in Seminary Manor.
Dorothy was born September 5, 1928, in Galesburg, the daughter of Herbert M. and Florence (Anderson) Allen. She married Phillip E. Duvall Sr. on November 21, 1948, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2003, after nearly 55 years of marriage.
She is survived by four children, Linda (Don) Thomas of Galesburg, Connie (Bill) Kemper of Galesburg, Phillip (Liz) Duvall Jr. of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Sally Duke of Galesburg; eight grandchildren, Tina (Keith) Thrasher, Scott Thomas, Amy Kemper, Todd Kemper, Jeff Duvall, Michael Duke, Jaclyn Duke, and Nicholas Duke; four great-grandsons, Alex Kemper, Shadow Duvall, Shane Duvall, and Sean Duvall; one brother, Bert Allen Jr. of Galesburg; and a sister, Gwen Allen of Galesburg. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Dorothy graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947 and spent her entire life in Galesburg as a homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Covenant Church and was involved in numerous church activities, especially when her children were young. Family and church were Dorothy’s life.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022, at the chapel with Christine Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to the Covenant Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
