Peoria woman arrested for DUI after driving off I-74 onramp.

Galesburg Police in the early morning hours on Sunday, April 17th, observed a sedan traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on East Main Street and entering the eastbound I-74 onramp. The vehicle drove off the ramp and into the ditch. Officers approached the vehicle as a male subject was yelling hysterically at the female driver. According to police reports, the male yelled at officers saying the female was drunk and she “would not let me drive.” The female was identified as 45-year-old Amanda Allen of Peoria. The male was also believed to be intoxicated. Allen told officers the male grabbed the steering wheel causing the crash. After a field sobriety test that indicated signs of impairment, Allen was placed under arrest. A preliminary breath test yielded a .129 BAC for Allen. She was charged with DUI A1, DUI A2 for a BAC over .08, Improper Lane Usage, and Failure to Reduce Speed.
