
Galesburg Police on Thursday, April 14th was performing surveillance on a residence in the 1100 block of Bateman Street. The residence was the listed address of a male suspect, 45-year-old Anthony Williams, known to have numerous warrants for his arrest. Officers observed Williams exit the residence and get into a sedan in the driveway. When police attempted to make contact, Williams fled on foot. Williams ran to an attached garage and attempts to enter were unsuccessful. Police then responded to the front of the residence and made contact with 49-year-old Sylvia Arrendondo. Arrendondo told police Williams lives at the residence, but the house is split into two apartments and Williams wasn’t present, and they were not allowed inside. GPD informed Arrendondo that the residence is not listed as a split-dwelling and forced entry was made. Williams was found hiding in the basement and taken into custody. He’s charged with Resisting a Peace Officer, and Knox County warrants for: Aggravated Fleeing, Retail Theft, Burglary, and Domestic Battery. Sylvia Arrendondo was arrested and charged with a Class 4 Felony of Obstruction of Justice – harboring a fugitive. Both were taken to the Knox County Jail.
