A single-vehicle UTV accident killed a 42-year-old Abingdon man on Monday, along with injuring two children, one seriously.
A preliminary investigation by Illinois State Police found that the UTV being driven by 42-year-old Troy J. Simkins left the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned several times.
He was traveling west on 130th Avenue near 170th Street in Warren County at around 3:45 p.m. Monday.
Both Simkins and the 10-year-old passenger were ejected from the vehicle.
Simkins was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County Coroner, while the 10-year was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The 7-year-old suffered injuries but they aren’t considered life-threatening.
