Galesburg Aldermen on Monday, August 1st, will vote on whether or not to allow UTV’s and golf carts on city streets. If passed users of these vehicle would need an annual $100 permit from the City, which would include an inspection by Police. Also, the rules would require all operators to be over 18 and all passengers over 8. The vehicle shall obey all traffic regulations and operate in the same manner as automobiles using the roadway.

Galesburg City Council on Monday night will have a final vote on establishing an Airport Advisory Commission. The commission would function like many of the other city commissions, like the Golf Advisory and Tree Commissions. The Airport Advisory Commission would be made of 5 members of varied experience; a pilot, a Jet Air representative, two Galesburg residents with an interest in aviation, and a representative from the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development. The commission would be charged with providing recommendations on capital projects, expansion, and rules and regulations for the airport. They would also provide an annual report to the City Council. Speaking of Commission reports, the Galesburg Youth Commission is scheduled to give their monthly report to the council tonight.
