GPD investigating second shooting incident in a week

The Galesburg Police Department is investigating a second shooting incident in the past week.GPD responded to shots fired call around 11:40 pm last night (July 31st) in the area of North Henderson and Home Boulevard. Dispatch received reports that a pick-up truck and a Dodge Charger were involved and a male victim arrived at St. Mary’s Medical Center with non-life threatening gunshot wounds to his legs. The bullet had passed through the victim’s left leg and entered his right leg. The victim said he was the backseat passenger in the sedan when the truck pulled up next to them in the northbound lane at Henderson and Home Boulevard and began firing. The victim was eventually transported to OSF St. Francis in Peoria. Officers canvassed the intersection and located five shell casings. The victim as well as the other two occupants of the car identified to police a 26-year-old black Galesburg male suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
