Kevin J. “Butch” Smith, Sr., 61 of Smithfield and formerly of Abingdon, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2022, at his home.
He was born November 16, 1960, in Galesburg, the son of Ray T. and Anna (Dimatteo) Smith.
Kevin is survived by two sons, Derek Smith of Roseville and Kevin Smith, Jr. of Galesburg; his father, Ray Smith of Springfield, Missouri; his siblings, Vickey (Greg) Simpson of Ash Grove, Missouri, Gene Smith of Springfield, Missouri, Rod Smith of Abingdon and his twin, Kim (Jeff) Cunningham of Springfield, Missouri; and nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister, Peggy Aplin, and a niece, Charity Graves.
Kevin grew up in Abingdon and attended Abingdon schools. He worked in construction as a roofer before becoming disabled. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone.
Cremation was accorded. The burial of his cremains will be at a later date in the Abingdon Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
