
Galesburg Police on Monday, August 29th, around 6:00 in the morning responded to Midstate Manufacturing in the 500 block of McClure Street for a report of a burglary. Police met with employees who said someone had gained access to the building. A padlock had been cut off of a north-side door. Officers also discovered pry marks on another door on the east side of the building. While walking through the building, police observed a truck parked inside that had been rummaged through with items missing, numerous drawers were open, a vending machine was broken into, and numerous other storage cabinets had things taken from them. A pair of gloves not worn by Midstate employees were found on the scene. Police also located a large tote concealed by clothes and tree branches outside that contained a large number of hand tools and other items. Fresh bicycle tire tracks were also found on the north side of the building. According to police reports, notable items missing include seven Kodak cameras, a set of walkie-talkies, a cell phone, a laptop, miscellaneous tools, and an employee-owned JBL speaker. Police are in the process of collecting area security footage and the investigation is ongoing.
