A free, community-oriented live music program will be returning to Wiley Park in Galva for the next three years. The Galva Arts Council has been awarded a multi-year Levitt AMP Grant Award of $90,000 in matching funds to present the free outdoor music series through 2025. The Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation turned the $25,000 grant into a three-year matching grant of $30,000 per year. The foundation awarded $90,000 to each of the 18 returning Levitt AMP grantees. A total of $1.62 million in total grants were awarded. The Levitt Foundation is planning to award an additional 10 non-profits $900,000 to bring the music series to their communities. According to John Taylor, President of the Levitt AMP Galva Music Series, “Since 2018, the Levitt AMP Galva Music Series…has inspired community-driven investment in the rural town’s local economy, transforming Wiley Park from an underused green space into a dynamic hub complete with a permanent stage.” A total of 38 communities since 2015 have been utilizing under-used outdoor public places where all members of the community are welcome to participate and enjoy a diverse lineup of artists, music genres, and cultural programming.
