Around 11:00 pm on Tuesday, September 13th, Galesburg Police responded to the intersection of US Highway 150 and Knox Highway 10 for a report of three toolboxes near the intersection near the Phillips 66 gas station. As officers arrived, two subjects were loading the toolboxes into the trunk of a vehicle.
One of the subjects attempted to depart as officers approached and refused to comply to commands. The male gave officers a false name and said he had nothing to do with the other man and his two passengers inside the vehicle. The passengers quickly told officers the man’s REAL name. The 29-year-old man then got on his cell phone and told someone he was going to jail. He then pulled a baggie containing a white substance out of his front pocket and officers detained him. Officers then learned the Lincoln sedan the four people were in was listed as stolen out of Moline. Officers also learned the 30-year-old male driver had a suspended license. The 29-year-old male was arrested and charged with Possession of Meth, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Obstructing Identification. The 30-year-old male was arrested and charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Driving While his License is Suspended. Both men were transported to the Knox County Jail.
