Galesburg Police on Saturday, September 17th responded to Walmart for a retail theft complaint. A 55-year-old Galesburg woman was attempting to steal nearly $900 worth of products. Galesburg Police are familiar with the female suspect: WGIL reported in early August that the same woman was arrested after she was caught stealing items from vehicles parked at St. Mary’s Medical Center and at Maurice’s. Asset Protection Employees were alerted to the woman after they observed her enter the store, open and drink an energy drink before walking further into the store, according to police reports. The female then filled her cart with $889 worth of goods and then head towards the exit without making any attempt to pay for the items. The woman became increasingly aggressive with police – punching an officer in the face while being detained. Officers searched the woman who was in possession of two pipes used for smoking methamphetamine, and the woman admitted to having meth on her. The woman was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Retail Theft over $300, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, and a valid Mercer County Warrant for DUI Drugs.
