Barbara Francis of Woodhull, IL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the age of 96.
She was born July 19, 1926, in Roseville, IL to Floyd and Zera (Black) Lindberg. She graduated from Roseville High School. On June 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gerald K. Francis Sr. in Galesburg, IL.
Barbara was a homemaker and loving mother to her four children. After her husband’s death in 1975, she assumed ownership of the Francis Insurance Agency in Woodhull until retiring in 1995. She was then employed at Mercer County Home Healthcare for several years.
Barbara was a member of the United Church of Woodhull, where she served in many different capacities including the sewing circle. She also was a member of the Insurance Women of America and the AlWood Belles.
She enjoyed vacationing, golfing, and watching television, especially golf, tennis, the Hallmark channel, and QVC.
Survivors include two sons, David (Linda) Francis of Naperville, IL; Scott (Kris) Francis of Woodhull; daughter-in-law, Muriel Francis of Woodhull; son-in-law, Jim (Karrie) Taylor of South Elgin, IL; eight grandchildren, Jamee (Mitch); Heather (Jake); Leigh (Brandon); Mark; Greg (Kirsten); Patrick; Jordan; Ryan; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Tyler, Cooper, Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Karen Francis Taylor; son, Gerald K. Francis Jr.; brother, Weldon (Liz) Lindberg and her beloved dog, Hogan.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022, at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the funeral home, followed by burial in the Woodhull Cemetery.
