One dead in officer involved shooting

MORRISON – One person has been pronounced deceased after an officer-involved shooting last week.

According to the Illinois State Police, SWAT officers were executing a search warrant in Morrison on October 21st when they heard a gunshot and encountered 48-year-old Aaron Linke, who was pointing a firearm at officers.

Police opened fire, striking him. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he was pronounced brain dead and taken off life support.

A woman was found in the home with a gunshot wound and taken to an area hospital. ISP says that woman is considered a witness and has not been identified.

The search warrant was for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Possession of Contraband in a Penal Institution.

In processing the scene, officers recovered several firearms.

This investigation is open and ongoing.
