It’s scary how many Halloween activities are happening in the Galesburg area. From costume parties to spooky movies to traditional trick-or-treat stops, here is a list of some Halloween-themed happenings, courtesy Galesburg Tourism & Visitors Bureau.

Thursday, Oct. 27

Halloween Yoga at Hidden Hills Vineyard & Winery

5:30 p.m.: Costumes are encouraged for this Halloween-themed yoga session in the Tasting Room, taught by Laura Bush! $10 includes a glass of wine and 45 minutes of stretching, meditating, and tranquility. Beginners are welcome! Please bring your own mat. 

28 Fall Into the Spooky Season Pajama Party at Wordsmith Bookshoppe

6:30 p.m.: Toddlers can come dressed in their pajamas, with their pillow and blanket, to hear “spooky” stories for the Halloween season. Books might include Creepy Crayon, Three Billy Goats Gruff, and Goodnight Goon.

 

Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29

Walk of the Dead Haunted Trail

Get in the Halloween spirit with the Walk of the Dead Haunted Trail! Bring a friend or two and enjoy a few good spooks and scares. What lies along the haunted trail? That’s for us to know and you to find out! Open Friday and Saturday from 7-11 p.m., $15 per person. Intended for ages 12+. Located at 1033 S. Lake Storey Road, behind Lakeside. 

28 Knox County YMCA Boo-Tastic Halloween Party

4-7 p.m.: Dress your kids up and let them run around McBride Gymnasium, taking part in games and activities!  

 

Friday, Oct. 28

Halloween Party at Reserve Artisan Ales

7-11 p.m.: Put on your best costume and grab your friends! There will be live music from The Memphis Dives, as well as the Mobile Axe Throwing & Escape Room from Avon’s Storm Shelter Pub. Plus, you could win $200 worth of gift cards for ‘Best of Show’ 

Fright Film Fest: The Day the Earth Stood Still at The Orpheum Theatre

8 p.m.: Part of Fright Film Fest, The Orpheum Theatre will be showcasing The Day the Earth Stood Still as their last movie of the festival! Show begins at 8 p.m. and is free!

Halloween Music Trivia at Knights of Columbus

5:30 p.m.: Get in the Halloween Spirit with Critter Cove and help raise money for injured and abandoned wildlife! Come in costume and see if you’ll win, but no one loses when there’s door prizes! There will also be a bake sale, auction items, and a 50/50 raffle.

Dia De Los Muertos at La Cantinita

9:30 p.m. to  12:30 a.m.: La Cantinita invites you to Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) dance party! Celebrate Halloween with cocktail and margarita specials, costumes, and music from DJ Junebug & DJ j-Money Blessed.

 

Saturday, Oct. 29

Treat Street at Downtown Businesses

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Around 69 businesses and organizations will hand out treats on Saturday! Start at the DCP booths, either in Park Plaza or in front of Sprinkle and Spoon to pick up your treat bag and a copy of the map! Then, take off and visit any business you want to trick-or-treat!

Treat Street 2022

Buddes Halloween Party

9 p.m. to midnight: Jera and the Absoluts will be rocking the Buddes at their Halloween Party! Dress up and party with them; prizes are involved. Come and get your spook on!

Halloween Hoopla at Discovery Depot

3-5 p.m.: Carnival games, craft creations, Village Trick-or-Treat; Mad Scientist Lab, Feast with Witches; Pumpkin Patch Photo Ops.

Hallo-Wine Bonfire & Party at Hidden Hills Vineyard & Winery

7-10 p.m.: The witches of Hidden Hills Vineyard and Winery welcome all mortals to a spooky party in your honor, this Saturday, October 29th from 7:00p to 10:00p. Come in costume and consume wine cocktails, if you dare, as well as a curated blackout menu, featuring treats, new wine mixes, and Blood Bag Sangria Slushies. Come alive to music from Sean Kistler and experience a bonfire waiting just for you, with s’mores in store. All those who enter must be 21+ and ready for a wicked good time.  

Halloween Party at The Watering Hole at Oak Run

8 p.m. to midnight: ZJDJ will be playing frightening tunes from 8 p.m. until midnight, with prizes, fun, and dancing for everyone! Be there at 10p for the costume contest, and don’t miss out on the drink and food specials! Come dressed up and ready to play.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

10 p.m.-2:30 a.m: This year, The Orpheum Theatre is bringing back the midnight showing of the beloved cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Doors open at 10 p.m. and the costume contest starts at 11 p.m. Bring your boas and your fishnets, or just wear your Halloween costume. Whatever you wear, get to the theater before midnight so you don’t miss this interactive show. Tickets are available for purchase online at the Box Office. You must be 18+ to attend.

 

Sunday, Oct. 30

Costume Contest & Trick-or-Treating at Prairie Moon Farm

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Celebrate the last day of the season for Prairie Moon Farms on Sunday, October 30th, by attending the 2nd Annual Costume Contest! Put on your best costume and visit the farm anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to be entered to win a sweet prize for three categories: Best Group Costume, Most Original Costume, and Cutest Costume. Receive a free mini pumpkin for showing up, dressed up! While you’re there, shop the vendors, pet the donkeys, and trick-or-treat around the farm!

 

Monday, Oct. 31

Ghosts of Galesburg Historical Walk at Galesburg Public Library

6:30 p.m.: Visit historical locations and hear actors tell the stories of people from the past with connections to those locations. For the 10th Anniversary, this year’s tour will be a “greatest hits” featuring your favorite ghosts from previous walks! Please dress for the weather & bring a flashlight.
