Galesburg Police on Monday, October 24th responded to South Seminary Street where several purses were found inside a dumpster. Officers looked through the items and found several personal mail items belonging to a Galesburg resident on South Seminary Street. Police responded and made contact with the owner of the mail who said the items originated from inside her vehicle which was parked in a secure, unattached garage. The woman opened the garage to find her 2020 BMW was completely ransacked. The woman also discovered someone had made nine attempts to make an online purchase using her Mastercard. The rear door of the garage had been pried open, and police were able to get fingerprints off the door for analysis. The incident remains under investigation.
