Galesburg Police last Tuesday, October 25th, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a registration plate violation near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Michigan Avenue. Police made contact with the 39-year-old female driver and her 40-year-old male passenger – both of Monmouth. Before officers could conduct a free air sniff test with a K-9 unit, they provided officers with a THC vape pen. Offices then conducted a search of the vehicle where 34.4 grams of cannabis was found behind the driver’s seat. Near the center console, officers found a glass smoking device with white chunks of suspected methamphetamine inside. Neither subject was cooperative with police and both denied ownership of the contraband. Since the items were found inside the female’s vehicle, she was placed under arrest. The male passenger, who is also on Mandatory Supervised Release, was free to go. The female was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Unlawful Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Meth.
