A new Knox County Board was given their oaths of office and seated last week.
County Clerk and Recorder Scott Erickson administered the oaths of office to all 15 members of the board – most of which were re-elected to new terms.
Jared Hawkinson was re-elected for another two years as chairman of the board and new committee structure and assignments were established.
New board members include Anthony Weiss, Amanda Smith, Sam Cohen, Josh Kramer, and Patty Boone. Additionally, after several years of civilian life following a long stretch on the board, Greg “Chops” Bacon has returned to public service.
The Public Safety and Justice Committee, made up of the Sheriff, State’s Attorney, Public Defender, Circuit Clerk, Coroner, Judicial, and Mary Davis Home departments, will be led by Kramer.
The Infrastructure Committee, made up of the IT, Highway, and Landfill departments, will be led by Bob Bondi. This committee will also oversee facility upkeep.
Health and Human Services Committee, made up of the Nursing Home, Health Department, and Veterans departments, will be led by “Chops” Bacon.
The Ways and Means Committee, made up of the Clerk/Recorder, Treasurer, and Assessor/Zoning/GIS departments, will be led by Brian Friedrich and handles insurance, liability, and budgeting.
The Knox County Board holds its first meeting with the new members on Wednesday, December 28.
