Galesburg is temporarily without a 24-hour retail pharmacy.
Due to staffing issues, Galesburg’s only 24-hour pharmacy — Walgreen’s on West Fremont Street — has had to reduce its hours. As of Thursday, pharmacy hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Fraser Engerman, senior director for external relations for Walgreens, tells WGIL, “We are temporarily not operating this pharmacy on a 24-hour basis due to ongoing staffing issues. In communities impacted by staffing shortages in our pharmacies, we have adjusted hours of operation with the goal of creating minimal disruption for customers and patients.”
Engerman says patients and customers who have questions about their medications can also talk to a Walgreens pharmacist using the Pharmacist Video Chat feature available 24/7 on Walgreens mobile app.
The Walgreens store at 844 W. Fremont St. will remain open 24 hours.
Pharmacy hours at the East Main Street Walgreens are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and closed on weekends.
