CHICAGO (AP) – Police say a nine-year-old boy has been fatally shot inside his home on Chicago’s South Side. Police say the boy died at Comer Children’s Hospital after being shot multiple times Sunday night. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the boy as Jarvis Watts. Chicago Police Commander Sean Joyce says there were multiple children and adults in the house at the time. He says an extended family lives there, Joyce says it wasn’t immediately clear how many gunshot wounds the boy suffered or who fired them. It also isn’t clear whether the shooting was intentional or accidental, but police say it wasn’t self-inflicted.
