GPD respond to seven more reports of trespassing or burglaries to UNLOCKED vehicles.

Galesburg Police responded to seven more calls of burglaries to motor vehicles over the weekend, where again, all the victims had one thing in common: they left their car doors unlocked overnight.

  • On Friday, GPD met with a 28-year-old woman who said someone stole her wallet from her Buick SUV in the 1200 block of Harrison Street.
  • Sunday afternoon, in the 200 block of Highland Avenue a 44-year-old man noticed someone rummaged through his unlocked Jeep SUV and stole his wallet and bank cards.
  • In the 300 block of East Grove Street a 21-year-old man said someone stole $800 in jewelry and a Sony Playstation 5 from his unlocked trunk.
  • In the 300 block of North Cedar Street, a 56-year-old woman reported someone rummaged through her unlocked Nissan sedan overnight but nothing was taken.
  • On Columbus Avenue, a 32-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman reported someone rummaged through both of their unlocked Ford Escapes but nothing was taken.
  • Also on Columbus Avenue, a 50-year-old man reported someone rummaged through his Ford Escape as well but didn’t take anything.
  • In the 1100 block of West Grove Street, a 23-year-old woman reported her designer purse was taken from her unlocked vehicle. A neighbor located the woman’s broken purse later that day.
