Knox Women’s Basketball Clinches Berth in MWC Tourney

GALESBURG, Illinois – The Prairie Fire women’s basketball team became the first Midwest Conference (MWC) team to clinch a berth in the upcoming MWC Women’s Basketball Tournament. The event will be held February 24 and 25 at a location to be determined. The winner of the regular season will host the tournament.

Tournament Information

Knox is off to a 11-0 start to the MWC regular season with five games remaining. The Prairie Fire will be making their third consecutive tournament appearance and fourth in the last five seasons. With an overall record of 16-4, Knox is currently on a program best nine game winning streak and they have already matched the program high in league victories.

“I am really proud of our teamwork this season and the adversity we have overcome to get to where we are today,” said head coach Kira Mowen. “Our girls have put in the work and continue to push each other in practice. Though we might have achieved a tiny milestone, we are not done yet. Please continue to support them for the remainder of the season as we rely heavily on our fans for added motivation.”

Knox will travel to Cornell on February 4 to take on the current number three team in the league with a record to 7-4.
