Galesburg City Council on Monday night finalized rezoning a parcel on the Gale Village Subdivision that would allow The Ascent Church to construct a building in the area.
The church has held services at the Knox County YMCA for the past two years but looks to build in the area of Aldi and McAlister’s Deli.
The rezoning was for 6 acres of land being developed by Mike Martin from R2 Two-Family to I Institutional. The intent is for Martin to sell a lot to The Ascent for development.
No construction will occur until site and landscaping plans are submitted for review by the Development Review Committee and construction plans are submitted for review by the Inspection Division.
