Galesburg Police last Friday were dispatched to the 2700 block of Springer Road for a disturbance. The caller told police she witnessed a white female subject in a sedan attempt to strike a black female subject. Dispatch then received another call of a man and woman fighting inside an apartment on Springer Road. Police responded and made contact with a 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man. The woman told police she’s been in an on-again-off-again relationship with the man, and after finding sexually explicit messages on the man’s phone from other women she became upset and was leaving him. The woman observed the man being dropped off by an unknown woman and became upset. The woman was nearly struck by the sedan when the other woman drove off quickly. Inside the apartment, the man dragged the woman by her hoodie and choked her to the point she thought she would lose consciousness. Officers observed redness and scratches on the woman’s neck. The man was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery.
