
The Galesburg Police Department responded to another slew of reports of vehicles getting entered and burglarized. Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the 900 block of North Cherry Street after a 56-year-old woman reported her 2016 Honda Accord was rummaged through. In the 1900 block of Patterson Drive, a 37-year-old man’s 2020 Dodge Durango was rummaged through. A 26-year-old woman’s 2021 Kia Forte was also entered in the 1900 block of Patterson Drive. Someone attempted to start the Kia – the ignition was damaged, and a screwdriver was left sticking out of it. In the 2700 block of Costa Drive, a 59-year-old man’s 2016 Nissan Frontier was entered and all the doors were left open. In the 2100 block of Windish Drive, a 52-year-old woman reported a 2016 Kia Forte was rummaged through and thieves made off with flash drives of music and a key fob. In the 2800 block of Montague Drive, a 40-year-old woman’s 2023 Nissan Altima was rummaged through and the doors were left open. In almost every incident, the victim admitted to police their vehicle was left unlocked overnight.
Police yesterday morning responded to the 2000 block of North Broad Street for a report of a burglary. Police met with the 36-year-old female victim who said someone entered her garage overnight. The side door to the garage was left unlocked. The victim told police two Huffy bicycles and a Mongoose bicycle were taken. The victim also told police that meat was taken from their deep freezer. All three bikes would later be found a block over behind a residence in the 1900 block of Patterson Drive later that morning – the same address where a vehicle was reported to be entered and rummaged through.
Earlier last week, Galesburg Police recovered a stolen car. Police responded to a call of a disturbance in the 100 block of North Street where police found a 2009 Cadillac with flat tires and keys in the ignition. The sedan was reported stolen out of Woodhull. Police took possession of the vehicle.
