CHICAGO (AP) – A man has been hospitalized in critical condition after being shot by a Chicago police officer investigating a vehicle that was double-parked. Chicago police say officers in an unmarked squad car saw a group of people near the vehicle about 11:35 a.m. Monday in the Little Village neighborhood. They say officers tried to “conduct an investigatory stop” and the man fled “while in possession of a firearm.” They say officers followed him to a vacant lot and one of them opened fire, with a shot striking the man in the upper body. Police say a firearm was recovered at the scene.
