Around 11 p.m. on Thursday night, Galesburg Police responded to the Pony Club on McClure Street for a disturbance. Police met with management at the Pony Club – which was formerly Showgirls – who said a male patron was inside and was “knocked out cold.” The 48-year-old male subject regained consciousness and told police another male subject, unprovoked, punched him in the face. The man was cleared by GHAS personnel.

Officers then questioned a group of four men outside who said the 48-year-old victim had been following the group of men from bar to bar all night and was harassing them. The men said the victim got into their cab with them before coming to the Pony Club and was “bad-mouthing” the group the whole time they were there. A 27-year-old Ottawa man, who was part of the group, then punched the man in the face knocking him out.

Other witnesses told police the fight started when the group of four men was attempting to buy cocaine from the victim. A baggie of cocaine was found on the 48-year-old man. He was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The 27-year-old man was charged with Fighting.
