Shortly after midnight yesterday, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 100 block of South West Street for an ongoing disturbance in an apartment building. Officers had already been at the complex about 45 minutes prior for complaints about an intoxicated 35-year-old woman roaming the hallway yelling. Police responded to the woman’s apartment where she told police “You can check the cameras….and charge me for anything you’ve been (seeing) me doing.” The woman wasn’t answering officers’ questions and wasn’t making coherent statements. The woman was informed she was going to be charged with Public Intoxication. While escorting the woman from the building, she stopped walking multiple times and would drop her weight – forcing officers to carry her. After being placed in a squad car, the woman slipped her handcuffs and began hitting an officer. The woman was detained again and transported to the Knox County Jail. She was charged with Public Intoxication, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.
