Galesburg Police last Tuesday, responded to the 400 block of Iowa Court for a report of theft. A woman told police a 39-year-old man was inside her residence last night. The woman said she watched as the man stole her son’s shoes that were sitting by the back door. After the man was gone, she noticed jewelry in the bathroom was missing. The woman then watched a security video from her doorbell which showed the man outside of her residence that morning. The man then stole the video doorbell.
It’s unclear why the man was inside the woman’s residence to begin with. Police were able to identify the man from prior police contacts. At the time of the police report, officers were still awaiting security video from the victim. The man has been listed as a questionable subject and could be facing theft charges.
