ISP investigating crash involving parked Knox County Sheriff’s Department patrol car

A patrol vehicle with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office was struck last night while blocking traffic on Knox Highway 8.

The deputy was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash as it was blocking traffic at a fire scene.

Out of precaution, the deputy was transported to the hospital although they were released after being treated for injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle has been identified as 77-year-old Michael Dunn of Knoxville.

Dunn was also transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries and was then released, but Dunn was issued a citation for violation of Scott’s Law.

The minimum fine for a 1st violation of Scott’s Law is $250.
