
A Kewanee man is dead and two teenagers have been arrested on murder charges and more.
According to a release from the Kewanee Police Department, officers were dispatched to N. Lakeview Ave. and Hope Way at around Saturday, April 1, at 9:24 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. Officers arrived to find a 38-year-old male victim on the ground suffering from multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen.
The responding officer immediately began performing CPR and called for paramedics. Paramedics from the Kewanee Fire Department arrived on the scene and began emergency medical care.
The victim was transported to OSF Saint Luke’s Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The deceased was identified as Clifton Parks of Kewanee.
Officers immediately began to search the area for the suspects. Statements were gathered from witnesses and potential suspects were identified. Detectives from the Kewanee Police Department initiated a homicide investigation.
Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police detectives were called in to assist with the investigation.
A 14-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, both from Kewanee, were arrested for their actions in the disturbance.
The 14-year-old male was arrested for the preliminary charges of Mob Action and Aggravated Battery. The 16-year-old male was arrested for the preliminary charges of 2nd Degree Murder and Mob Action.
Both juveniles were transferred to the custody of the Mary Davis Juvenile Detention Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
