1 juvenile killed, another injured when side-by-side collides with deer in rural Knox County

One juvenile was killed and another transported to an area hospital by Life Flight when their side-by-side vehicle collided with a deer Sunday evening in rural Knox County south of Knoxville.
According to a news release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the 600 block of Knox Road 1000N for an accident involving a side by side. Two juvenile occupants were out checking cattle when a deer ran out in front of them. They struck the deer and went off the roadway.
One juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene while the second juvenile was transported by Life Flight to OSF St. Francis.
The crash remains under investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Knox County was assisted by Galesburg Hospitals’ Ambulance Service, Knoxville Fire and Life Flight.
