Jaylene Adams, 37, of Galesburg passed away when traveling for work on Friday, April 14, 2023, in Granville, Illinois.

She was born October 5, 1985, in Galesburg, Illinois. She went to High School in Galesburg and later obtained her GED. She then got her degree at Carl Sandburg College to be a phlebotomist. Jaylene worked for seven years as a hard-working member of the Red Cross Family, most recently she was the Quincy Team Supervisor.

Surviving are her father, Delbert “Jay” Simpson Jr. of Kirkwood, a sister Bonita (Daron) Johnston of Little York, Jaylene’s boyfriend of almost 10 years, Lee Gabbert, two step-daughters, Livy and Madeline of Galesburg, one son, Ashton Hillier of Knoxville, two uncles, Dion (Christine) Simpson of Aledo, and Zachary Simpson of Stronghurst, Grandparents, Delbert Sr. (Laura) Simpson of Monmouth, and Diana Simmons of Aledo. Also surviving is her beloved nephew Atticus Johnston and her four cats, Chewy, Kitty Purry, Gumball, and Mobius.

Jaylene was a very kind-hearted person who will be greatly missed. She will always be remembered by her friends and family for her love of Halloween, no matter what time of the year. Jaylene was also an avid reader who had a love for Edgar Allen Poe and supernatural novels. Jaylene took great pride in her makeup and her skills in cosmetics. Jaylene always took great care of others. She was a wonderful party planner, an excellent cook, and would get people the most thoughtful gifts.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial visitation will be Friday, April 21, from 4 to 6 PM with a memorial service to follow. Chaplin Jordan Knight will officiate. Memorials can be made to either The American Red Cross or Guardian Angels of Galesburg. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services are honored to assist the family.
